Apple Bacon Jam

Method

Instructions

  1. 1

    Cook the Bacon

In a large skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon until crispy. Remove it from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Leave about 2 tablespoons of bacon grease in the skillet.

  2. 2

    Sauté the Onions

In the same skillet, add the chopped onions and sauté until they are translucent, about 5 minutes.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Apples

Peel, core, and chop the apples into small pieces. Add the apples to the skillet with the onions.

  4. 4

    Make the Jam

Add the cooked bacon, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, cinnamon, and black pepper to the skillet. Stir well to combine. Cook over medium-low heat for about 30 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the mixture thickens and becomes jam-like.

  5. 5

    Cool and Store

Remove the jam from heat and let it cool. Once cooled, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 2 weeks.

  6. 6

    Serve

Serve the apple bacon jam alongside slices of smoked gouda cheese and romaine chiffonade for a delightful appetizer.
