Halva Ingredients

Method

Halva Preparation

1

Prepare the Syrup

In a saucepan, combine sugar and water. Bring to a boil and then lower the heat to simmer for about 5 minutes until sugar is dissolved. Remove from heat and set aside.

2

Toast Semolina

In a separate pan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add semolina and toast it, stirring constantly, until it turns golden brown (about 10 minutes).

3

Combine Mixtures

Slowly pour the syrup into the toasted semolina, stirring continuously to avoid lumps. Add vanilla extract and mix well.

4

Add Nuts and Cinnamon

If using, stir in the chopped nuts and ground cinnamon. Mix until everything is well combined.

5

Set the Halva

Transfer the mixture into a greased mold or a shallow dish. Press down firmly to compact it. Allow to cool at room temperature for at least 2 hours.

6

Serve

Once set, cut the halva into squares or desired shapes and serve. Enjoy your homemade halva!
