Cake Instructions

1

Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

2

Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, sift together the flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

3

Add Wet Ingredients

Add the eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract to the dry ingredients. Mix until well combined.

4

Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water. The batter will be thin.

5

Bake the Cakes

Pour the batter evenly into the prepared cake pans. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

6

Cool the Cakes

Remove from the oven and let the cakes cool in the pans for 10 minutes. Then, turn them out onto a wire rack to cool completely.

7

Prepare Ganache

To make the ganache, heat 1 cup of heavy cream until just boiling, then pour it over 8 ounces of chopped semisweet chocolate. Let it sit for 5 minutes, then stir until smooth.

8

Frost the Cake

Once the cakes are completely cool, place one layer on a serving plate, spread half of the ganache on top, then place the second layer on top and pour the remaining ganache over the top.
