Method
For the Apple Cobbler
Prepare the Apples
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a large mixing bowl, combine the sliced apples with 1/2 cup of granulated sugar and 1 tsp of cinnamon. Toss well to coat the apples and set aside.
Make the Cobbler Batter
In another bowl, whisk together the remaining 1/2 cup of granulated sugar, flour, baking powder, and salt. In a separate bowl, combine the milk, melted butter, and vanilla extract. Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined.
Assemble the Cobbler
Pour the batter into a greased 9x13 inch baking dish. Evenly distribute the apple mixture on top of the batter.
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 40-45 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the apples are tender. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
For the Vanilla Ice Cream
Mix the Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine the heavy cream, whole milk, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and a pinch of salt. Whisk until the sugar is dissolved and the mixture is well combined.
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 2 hours, or until the mixture is thoroughly chilled.
Churn the Ice Cream
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions, usually for about 20-25 minutes until it reaches a soft-serve consistency.
Freeze
Transfer the churned ice cream to an airtight container and freeze for at least 4 hours or until firm.
