Soft Serve Base
Method
Preparation and Serving
Make the Soft Serve Base
In a mixing bowl, combine the whole milk, heavy cream, granulated sugar, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk until the sugar is fully dissolved and the mixture is smooth.
Chill the Mixture
Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate the mixture for at least 2 hours or until thoroughly chilled.
Churn the Soft Serve
Pour the chilled mixture into an ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer's instructions until it reaches a soft-serve consistency, usually about 20-25 minutes.
Incorporate Seasonal Flavor
If desired, add the seasonal flavor (e.g., strawberry puree or chocolate syrup) during the last few minutes of churning to create a twist effect.
Serve
Scoop the soft serve into bowls or cones and top with sprinkles if desired. Serve immediately.
