Cake and Chocolate Balls

Method

Preparation and Assembly

  1. 1

    Bake the Cake

Preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour two 9-inch round cake pans.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine flour, sugar, cocoa powder, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.

  3. 3

    Mix Wet Ingredients

In another bowl, whisk together eggs, milk, oil, and vanilla extract. Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until combined.

  4. 4

    Add Boiling Water

Carefully stir in the boiling water until the batter is smooth (the batter will be thin).

  5. 5

    Bake

Evenly distribute the batter into the prepared pans and bake for 30-35 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool the Cakes

Allow the cakes to cool in the pans for 10 minutes, then turn them out onto wire racks to cool completely.

  7. 7

    Make Chocolate Balls

In a saucepan, melt the butter and chocolate chips over low heat, stirring until smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  8. 8

    Form Balls

Once cooled, roll the chocolate mixture into small balls and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to set.

  9. 9

    Make Frosting

In a bowl, beat butter until creamy. Gradually add powdered sugar and milk, beating until smooth and fluffy.

  10. 10

    Assemble the Cake

Place one cake layer on a serving plate, spread frosting on top, then place the second layer on top. Frost the top and sides of the cake.

  11. 11

    Decorate with Chocolate Balls

Arrange the chocolate balls on top of the frosted cake, pressing them gently into the frosting.
