Bolognese Directions
- 1
Prepare the Bolognese Sauce
In a large skillet or saucepan, heat the olive oil over medium heat. Add the chopped onion, carrot, and celery. Sauté for about 5-7 minutes until vegetables are softened.
- 2
Add Garlic and Meats
Stir in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minute. Add the ground beef and ground pork, breaking it up with a spoon. Cook until browned, about 8-10 minutes.
- 3
Add Tomatoes and Seasonings
Stir in the crushed tomatoes, tomato paste, red wine, oregano, salt, and black pepper. Bring to a simmer and reduce heat to low. Let it cook for at least 30 minutes, stirring occasionally.
- 4
Cook the Pasta
While the sauce is simmering, cook the rigatoni pasta according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 5
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Once the sauce is ready, combine the cooked rigatoni with the Bolognese sauce in the skillet. Mix well to coat the pasta.
- 6
Serve with Cheese
Serve the pasta hot, topped with shredded mozzarella cheese. You can also place it under the broiler for a couple of minutes to melt the cheese if desired.
