Add Garlic and Deglaze
Minced the garlic and add it to the pot. Cook for another 2 minutes. Then pour in the white wine, scraping up any browned bits from the bottom of the pot, and let it simmer for 5 minutes.

Add Broth and Seasonings
Pour in the beef broth, add the thyme, bay leaf, salt, and pepper. Bring the soup to a boil, then reduce the heat to low and let it simmer for 20-30 minutes.

Prepare the Baguette
While the soup simmers, preheat the oven to 350°F (175°C). Slice the French baguette into thick slices and place them on a baking sheet. Toast in the oven for about 10 minutes until golden.
