Goetta Sausage Gravy
Method
Preparation
- 1
Marinate Chicken
In a bowl, soak the chicken breasts in buttermilk for at least 2 hours or overnight in the refrigerator to tenderize.
- 2
Prepare Flour Mixture
In a separate bowl, mix the flour, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, salt, and black pepper.
- 3
Dredge Chicken
Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off. Dredge in the flour mixture until well coated.
- 4
Fry Chicken
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the chicken for about 6-8 minutes on each side or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove and drain on paper towels.
- 5
Make Sausage Gravy
In a separate saucepan, cook the goetta sausage over medium heat until browned. Stir in the flour and cook for 1-2 minutes.
- 6
Add Milk
Slowly whisk in the milk, cooking until the gravy thickens. Stir in the cheddar cheese, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes until melted.
- 7
Serve
Serve the fried chicken topped with the goetta sausage gravy.
