Biscuit and Goetta Sausage Gravy

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Make the Biscuits

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C). In a large bowl, combine flour, baking powder, and salt. Cut in the cold butter using a pastry cutter or your fingers until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs. Stir in the milk until just combined. Do not overmix.

  2. 2

    Shape and Bake

Turn the dough onto a floured surface and knead gently. Pat into a 1-inch thick round and cut out biscuits using a biscuit cutter. Place the biscuits on a baking sheet and bake for 12-15 minutes or until golden brown.

  3. 3

    Prepare the Goetta Gravy

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the goetta until browned. Sprinkle the 1/4 cup of flour over the goetta, stirring to coat. Slowly add the 2 cups of milk, whisking continuously until the mixture thickens. Season with black pepper and salt to taste.

  4. 4

    Serve

Once the biscuits are baked, split them in half and ladle the goetta sausage gravy generously over the tops. Enjoy your One & Done!
