Method
Preparing the Tea
- 1
Steeping the Tea
In a medium saucepan, bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Once boiling, remove from heat and add 4 tablespoons of Thai black tea leaves, the whole star anise, and the whole cardamom pods.
- 2
Infusing the Flavors
Cover the saucepan and let the mixture steep for about 10 to 15 minutes, depending on how strong you like your tea.
- 3
Straining the Tea
After steeping, strain the tea through a fine mesh sieve or cheesecloth into a large bowl or pitcher to remove the tea leaves and spices.
Sweetening the Tea
- 4
Mixing the Sweeteners
While the tea is still warm, stir in 1 cup of sweetened condensed milk and 1 tablespoon of sugar until fully dissolved. Adjust sweetness to taste.
- 5
Chilling the Tea
Allow the sweetened tea to cool to room temperature, then refrigerate until chilled, about 1 to 2 hours.
