Hanger Steak and Marinade

Method

Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, mix together harissa paste, olive oil, minced garlic, salt, and black pepper. Rub this mixture all over the hanger steak, ensuring it is well coated. Cover and let marinate in the refrigerator for at least 1 hour, or ideally overnight.

  2. 2

    Prepare Pickled Onions

In a saucepan, combine white vinegar, sugar, salt, and water. Bring to a simmer over medium heat, stirring until sugar and salt dissolve. Place sliced red onions in a jar and pour the hot vinegar mixture over them. Let cool to room temperature, then refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  3. 3

    Grill the Steak

Preheat your grill to high heat. Remove the hanger steak from the marinade and let it rest at room temperature for about 15 minutes. Grill the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness.

  4. 4

    Serve

Let the steak rest for a few minutes after grilling. Slice against the grain and serve with pickled red onions on top.
