Prepare the Salmon

Rinse the salmon steaks under cold water and pat them dry with a paper towel.

Marinate the Salmon

In a bowl, combine olive oil, lemon juice, garlic powder, salt, black pepper, and fresh dill. Mix well and brush the marinade over both sides of the salmon steaks. Let marinate for at least 30 minutes.

Prepare the Smoker

Soak hickory wood chips in water for at least 30 minutes. Drain and place them in the smoker box or directly on the coals.

Smoke the Salmon

Preheat the smoker to 225°F (107°C). Place the salmon steaks on the grill grates, skin side down. Close the lid and smoke for about 1 hour, or until the internal temperature reaches 145°F (63°C).

Serve

Remove the salmon from the smoker and let it rest for a few minutes. Serve with additional lemon wedges and fresh dill, if desired.
