Cheese Bread and Marinara

Method

Assembling the Dish

1

Toast the Bread

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium heat. Add the slices of bread and toast until golden brown on both sides.

2

Assemble the Sandwich

On one slice of toasted bread, layer half of the mozzarella cheese, then place the baked meatballs on top. Pour marinara sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle with the remaining mozzarella cheese.

3

Melt the Cheese

Top with the second slice of bread and return to the skillet. Cook on low heat, pressing down gently, until the cheese melts and the bread is crispy.

4

Serve

Remove from the skillet, slice in half, and top with grated Parmesan cheese and fresh basil leaves if desired.
