Flan Ingredients
Method
Flan Directions
Caramel Preparation
In a saucepan over medium heat, combine the granulated sugar and water. Stir until the sugar dissolves. Allow to boil without stirring until the mixture turns a golden brown color. Be careful not to burn it.
Pour Caramel
Quickly pour the caramel into a round baking dish, tilting the dish to coat the bottom evenly. Set aside to cool and harden.
Bake Flan
Pour the flan mixture over the hardened caramel in the baking dish. Place the baking dish in a larger baking pan and fill the outer pan with hot water until it reaches halfway up the sides of the flan dish. Bake in a preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for about 50-60 minutes, or until set.
Cool and Serve
Remove the flan from the oven and let it cool at room temperature. Once cooled, refrigerate for at least 4 hours or overnight. To serve, run a knife around the edges of the flan and invert it onto a serving plate.
