Bread Preparation
- 1
Activate Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water, sugar, and active dry yeast. Stir gently and let sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Make a well in the center of the flour mixture and add the activated yeast mixture and olive oil. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 8-10 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
First Rise
Place the kneaded dough into a greased bowl, cover with a damp cloth, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour or until it has doubled in size.
- 6
Shape the Bread
Punch down the risen dough, then shape it into a round loaf or divide it into smaller portions for rolls.
- 7
Second Rise
Place the shaped dough on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper, cover, and let rise for another 30-45 minutes.
- 8
Preheat Oven
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- 9
Bake
Bake the bread in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and sounds hollow when tapped on the bottom.
- 10
Cool
Remove from the oven and let cool on a wire rack before serving.
