Preparation Steps

1

Marinate the Steak

In a bowl, combine soy sauce, olive oil, minced garlic, and black pepper. Add the flank steak, ensuring it is fully coated. Cover and marinate in the refrigerator for at least 2 hours, preferably overnight.

2

Cook the Steak

Preheat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Remove the steak from the marinade and discard the marinade. Grill or sear the steak for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium-rare, or until desired doneness. Let it rest for 5 minutes.

3

Slice the Steak

Thinly slice the steak against the grain to ensure tenderness.

4

Assemble the Sandwich

Split the hoagie rolls and place the sliced steak inside. Top with Swiss cheese slices. If desired, add sautéed onions, mushrooms, jalapeños, or peppers.

5

Melt the Cheese

Place the assembled sandwiches under a broiler for 1-2 minutes until the cheese melts.

6

Serve

Remove from the broiler, let cool slightly, and serve warm.
