Method

Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Cake

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Grease and flour a 9x13 inch baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt.

  3. 3

    Cream Butter and Sugar

In a separate bowl, cream together the butter and sugar until light and fluffy. Add eggs one at a time, mixing well after each addition. Stir in vanilla.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Gradually add the dry ingredients to the wet ingredients, alternating with milk. Mix until just combined.

  5. 5

    Bake

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean. Let the cake cool completely.

  6. 6

    Prepare Tres Leches Mixture

In a bowl, combine sweetened condensed milk, evaporated milk, and whole milk.

  7. 7

    Soak Cake

Poke holes all over the cooled cake with a fork. Pour the tres leches mixture over the cake, allowing it to soak in.

  8. 8

    Chill and Serve

Refrigerate the cake for at least 2 hours (or overnight) before serving. Top with whipped cream and cherries if desired.
