Method

Preparing the Burger Patty

  1. 1

    Mix Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well with your hands or a spoon until the spices are evenly distributed.

  2. 2

    Form Patties

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Cooking the Burger Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat Grill or Pan

Preheat your grill or skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side for medium doneness. If using, add a slice of cheddar cheese on top of each patty in the last minute of cooking to melt.

Preparing Toppings

  1. 5

    Slice Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion into rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and set aside.

Assembling the Burger

  1. 6

    Toast the Buns

If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  2. 7

    Build the Burger

On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce leaves, followed by the cooked burger patty, sliced tomato, and onion. Drizzle ketchup and mustard on top, then place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
