Preparing the Burger Patty

Mix Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine the ground beef, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, and onion powder. Mix well with your hands or a spoon until the spices are evenly distributed.

Form Patties
Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a patty about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent them from puffing up while cooking.

Slice Vegetables
While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion into rings. Rinse the lettuce leaves and set aside.
Assembling the Burger

Toast the Buns
If desired, toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

Build the Burger
On the bottom half of each bun, layer the lettuce leaves, followed by the cooked burger patty, sliced tomato, and onion. Drizzle ketchup and mustard on top, then place the top half of the bun to complete the burger.
