Prepare the Lemons
Roll the lemons on a countertop to soften them, then cut them in half and juice them into a measuring cup. You should have about 1 to 1.5 cups of lemon juice.

Make the Simple Syrup
In a small saucepan, combine 1 cup of water and 1 cup of granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat, stirring until the sugar is completely dissolved. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Combine Ingredients
In a large pitcher, combine the freshly squeezed lemon juice, the simple syrup (adjust sweetness to taste), and 3 cups of cold water. Stir well.

Serve
Serve the lemonade over ice cubes and garnish with fresh mint leaves if desired.
