Dumpling Dough and Filling

Method

Preparation and Cooking

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large bowl, combine the flour and salt. Make a well in the center and add the egg and water gradually. Mix until a dough forms. Knead on a floured surface for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix thoroughly until well combined.

  3. 3

    Shape the Dumplings

Roll out the rested dough on a floured surface to a thin sheet. Cut into squares (about 2x2 inches). Place a teaspoon of filling in the center of each square. Fold the corners over the filling to form a triangle and pinch the edges to seal tightly.

  4. 4

    Cook the Dumplings

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Drop in the dumplings in batches and cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until they float to the surface. Remove with a slotted spoon and set aside.

  5. 5

    Prepare the Sauce

In a small saucepan, heat some olive oil and add chopped tomatoes. Cook until soft. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  6. 6

    Prepare the Yogurt Sauce

In a bowl, mix yogurt with minced garlic and salt to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

On a plate, arrange the cooked mantı, drizzle the tomato sauce over them, and top with the garlic yogurt. Serve warm.
