Prepare the Custard
In a medium saucepan, combine the milk and granulated sugar. Heat over medium heat until the sugar is dissolved and the milk is warm.

Mix Egg Yolks
In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg yolks, cornstarch, and vanilla extract until smooth.

Cook the Custard
Return the mixture to the saucepan and cook over medium heat, stirring constantly until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.

Cool and Set
Pour the custard into individual serving dishes or a large dish and let it cool to room temperature. Then refrigerate for at least 4 hours or until set.

Caramelize the Sugar
Before serving, sprinkle a thin layer of granulated sugar over the top of the set custard. Using a kitchen torch, carefully caramelize the sugar until it is golden and bubbly.

Allow the caramelized sugar to cool for a minute before serving. Enjoy your Kazandibi!
