Key Lime Pie Ingredients
Method
Key Lime Pie Preparation
- 1
Prepare the crust
Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). In a medium bowl, combine graham cracker crumbs, granulated sugar, and melted unsalted butter. Mix until the crumbs are evenly coated and resemble wet sand.
- 2
Form the crust
Press the mixture firmly into the bottom and up the sides of a 9-inch pie pan. Bake for 8-10 minutes or until set and lightly golden. Remove from the oven and let it cool.
- 3
Make the filling
In a large mixing bowl, whisk together the key lime juice, sweetened condensed milk, egg yolks, and lime zest until smooth and well combined.
- 4
Fill the crust
Pour the filling into the cooled graham cracker crust, spreading it evenly.
- 5
Bake the pie
Return the pie to the oven and bake for an additional 10-12 minutes. The filling should be set but still slightly jiggly in the center.
- 6
Cool and serve
Remove the pie from the oven and allow it to cool at room temperature for about 30 minutes. Then refrigerate for at least 2 hours before serving. Top with whipped cream as desired.
