Fried Okra
Dipping Sauce
Method
Fried Okra
- 1
Prepare the Okra
Wash the fresh okra thoroughly, then slice them into 1/2 inch pieces.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large bowl, combine cornmeal, all-purpose flour, paprika, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure even distribution.
- 3
- 4
Coat the Okra
Dip the sliced okra into the wet mixture, allowing excess to drip off, then toss in the dry mixture until well coated. Repeat until all okra is coated.
- 5
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 6
Fry the Okra
Carefully add the coated okra to the hot oil in batches, avoiding overcrowding. Fry until golden brown and crispy, about 3-4 minutes per batch.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Using a slotted spoon, remove the fried okra and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
Dipping Sauce
- 8
Mix Sauce Ingredients
In a small bowl, combine mayonnaise, hot sauce, lemon juice, and garlic powder. Stir until smooth and well blended.
- 9
Serve
Serve the dipping sauce alongside the crispy fried okra.
