Pie Crust

Method

Pie Crust

  1. 1

    Prepare the Pie Crust

In a large mixing bowl, combine the all-purpose flour, granulated sugar, and salt. Add the chilled, cubed butter and mix until the mixture resembles coarse crumbs.

  2. 2

    Add Water

Gradually add cold water, one tablespoon at a time, mixing gently until the dough begins to come together. Do not overmix.

  3. 3

    Chill the Dough

Shape the dough into a disk, wrap it in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes.

  4. 4

    Roll Out the Dough

Once chilled, roll out the dough on a lightly floured surface to fit a 9-inch pie pan.

  5. 5

    Transfer to Pie Pan

Carefully place the rolled-out dough into the pie pan and trim the excess. Crimp the edges if desired.

  6. 6

    Pre-Bake the Crust

Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Pre-bake the crust for about 10 minutes until lightly golden. Remove from oven and set aside.

Filling

  1. 7

    Prepare the Filling

In a large bowl, combine the granulated sugar, light corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, vanilla extract, and salt. Whisk together until well blended.

  2. 8

    Add Pecan Halves

Fold in the pecan halves into the filling mixture.

  3. 9

    Pour into Crust

Pour the pecan filling into the pre-baked pie crust, spreading the pecans evenly.

  4. 10

    Bake the Pie

Bake in the preheated oven at 350°F (175°C) for 50-60 minutes or until the filling is set and the top is golden.

  5. 11

    Cool and Serve

Allow the pie to cool on a wire rack for at least 2 hours before slicing. Serve warm or at room temperature.
