Method
Deep-Fried Tofu
Prepare the Tofu
Drain the firm tofu and press it to remove excess moisture. Cut it into cubes.
Coat the Tofu
In a bowl, toss the tofu cubes with cornstarch and salt until evenly coated.
Heat the Oil
In a deep frying pan, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 180°C (350°F).
Fry the Tofu
Carefully add the coated tofu cubes to the hot oil and fry until golden brown, about 5-7 minutes. Remove and drain on paper towels.
Grilled Tofu
Marinate the Tofu
Slice the firm tofu into thick slabs and marinate in the mixture for at least 30 minutes.
Preheat the Grill
Preheat your grill to medium heat.
Frozen Tofu
Freeze the Tofu
Simply place the firm tofu in its packaging or cut into desired sizes and place in a freezer-safe bag. Freeze for at least 24 hours.
Thaw and Use
When ready to use, thaw the tofu in the refrigerator overnight or in a bowl of warm water for quicker thawing.
Fermented Tofu
Prepare the Tofu
Drain the firm tofu and cut it into cubes.
Salt the Tofu
In a bowl, mix the tofu cubes with salt and let it sit for 30 minutes to draw out moisture.
Add Rice Wine and Starter
Add rice wine and fermentation starter to the salted tofu and mix well.
Ferment the Tofu
Place the mixture in a jar and cover it loosely. Let it ferment at room temperature for 3-5 days, checking daily.
