Bagel

Lox and Cream Cheese Spread

Fried Capers

Method

Prepare Cream Cheese Spread

  1. 1

Make the whipped scallion cream cheese

In a medium bowl, combine the cream cheese and finely chopped scallions. Mix well with a fork or hand mixer until smooth and well blended. Set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the lox

Take the cured salmon (lox) and slice it into thin strips if not already pre-sliced. Set aside.

Fry Capers

  1. 3

    Fry the capers

In a small pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add the capers and fry for 2-3 minutes until they become crispy. Remove from heat and drain on a paper towel.

Assemble the Bagel

  1. 4

    Toast the bagel

Slice the bagel in half and toast it until golden brown, either in a toaster or on a skillet.

  2. 5

    Spread the cream cheese

Once the bagel is toasted, spread a generous amount of the whipped scallion cream cheese on each half.

  3. 6

    Add lox and capers

Layer the lox slices on top of the cream cheese and sprinkle the fried capers over the lox.

  4. 7

    Garnish

Finish with a sprinkle of fresh dill on top of the lox and capers.

Serve

  1. 8

    Prepare the fruit cup

In a small bowl, arrange assorted fresh fruit of your choice (such as berries, melon, or citrus) to serve alongside the bagel.

  2. 9

    Plate the dish

Serve the assembled lox bagel with the fruit cup on the side. Enjoy!
