Method
Meat Filling
- 1
Cook the Meat
In a large skillet, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add chopped onion and minced garlic, sautéing until the onion is translucent.
- 2
Brown the Meat
Add ground beef and ground pork to the skillet. Season with salt, black pepper, and Italian seasoning. Cook until the meat is browned and fully cooked, about 10 minutes.
- 3
Add Marinara
Pour in the marinara sauce, stir to combine, and let it simmer for about 10 minutes on low heat.
Cheese Mixture
- 4
Prepare Cheese Mixture
In a mixing bowl, combine ricotta cheese, grated Parmesan cheese, egg, salt, black pepper, and chopped parsley. Mix until smooth.
Assembly
- 5
Boil Lasagna Noodles
In a large pot, boil water and add lasagna noodles. Cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- 6
Layer the Lasagna
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). In a baking dish, spread a layer of meat filling on the bottom. Place 3 lasagna noodles over the meat, then spread half of the cheese mixture over the noodles.
- 7
Continue Layering
Repeat the layers: another layer of meat filling, 3 noodles, the remaining cheese mixture, and top with the last 3 noodles and the remaining meat filling.
- 8
Add Mozzarella
Sprinkle the shredded mozzarella cheese evenly over the top layer.
- 9
Bake
Cover the baking dish with aluminum foil and bake for 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- 10
Rest and Serve
Let the lasagna rest for 10-15 minutes before slicing. Serve warm.
