Meatballs and Sauce
Method
Preparation and Assembly
- 1
Making the Meatballs
Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C). In a large bowl, combine ground beef, breadcrumbs, Parmesan cheese, egg, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, salt, and black pepper. Mix until just combined. Form the mixture into meatballs, about 1.5 inches in diameter.
- 2
Baking the Meatballs
Place the meatballs on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper. Bake for 20 minutes or until cooked through and browned.
- 3
Heating the Marinara Sauce
While the meatballs are baking, heat the marinara sauce in a saucepan over medium heat until warmed through.
- 4
Assembling the Subs
Once the meatballs are done, remove them from the oven and place them in a baking dish. Pour the marinara sauce over the meatballs and sprinkle with shredded mozzarella cheese.
- 5
Final Bake
Return the dish to the oven and bake for an additional 10 minutes, or until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
- 6
Serving
Slice the Italian bread or sub rolls and toast lightly if desired. Fill each piece with the meatball and sauce mixture. Serve hot.
