Fried Calamari
Method
Cooking Instructions
- 1
Prepare the Marinara Sauce
If you are making homemade marinara sauce, prepare it first and set it aside.
- 2
Prepare the Calamari
In a bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, salt, and black pepper. Mix well.
- 3
Coat the Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the flour mixture until they are fully coated.
- 4
Heat the Oil
In a large skillet or deep fryer, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 5
Fry the Calamari
Carefully add the coated calamari rings to the hot oil in batches, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 2-3 minutes until golden brown.
- 6
Add Banana Peppers
During the last minute of frying, add the banana peppers to the oil to fry them slightly.
- 7
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried calamari and banana peppers from the oil and drain them on paper towels. Serve hot with marinara sauce.
