For the Olive Salad

Method

Make the Olive Salad

  1. 1

    Combine Ingredients

In a medium bowl, combine the Kalamata olives, green olives, roasted red peppers, capers, minced garlic, fresh parsley, and dried oregano.

  2. 2

    Add Olive Oil

Pour in the olive oil and mix well until all ingredients are evenly coated.

  3. 3

    Chill the Salad

Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes, allowing the flavors to meld.

Assemble the Sandwich

  1. 4

    Prepare the Bread

Slice the round loaf of bread in half horizontally, creating a top and bottom half.

  2. 5

    Layer the Meats and Cheese

On the bottom half of the bread, layer the salami, ham, mortadella, provolone cheese, and mozzarella cheese.

  3. 6

    Add Olive Salad

Spread a generous amount of the prepared olive salad over the layered meats and cheese.

  4. 7

    Close the Sandwich

Place the top half of the bread over the filling and press down gently.

  5. 8

    Wrap and Weigh Down

Wrap the sandwich tightly in plastic wrap and place a heavy object on top to compress the sandwich. Let it sit for at least 1 hour or up to overnight in the refrigerator.

  6. 9

    Slice and Serve

Once the sandwich is compressed, unwrap, slice into wedges, and serve.
