Preheat the Oven
Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) to prepare for baking the lava cakes.

Making the Cake Batter

Melt Chocolate and Butter
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the semisweet chocolate and unsalted butter. Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring in between, until fully melted and smooth.

Add Vanilla and Flour
Mix in the vanilla extract and a pinch of salt. Gently fold in the flour until just combined. Be careful not to overmix.
Baking

Fill Ramekins
Pour the batter evenly into the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

Bake
Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, until the edges are firm but the center is soft.
Serving

Cool and Serve
Let the cakes cool for 1 minute before gently inverting them onto plates. Serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
