Method

Preparing the Beef Patty

  1. 1

    Mix the Ingredients

In a mixing bowl, combine 1 pound of ground beef with 1 tsp of salt, 0.5 tsp of black pepper, and 0.5 tsp of garlic powder. Mix gently until just combined.

  2. 2

    Form the Patty

Divide the mixture into two equal portions and shape each portion into a round patty, about ¾ inch thick. Make a slight indentation in the center of each patty to prevent puffing while cooking.

Cooking the Patty

  1. 3

    Preheat the Grill or Skillet

Preheat your grill or a skillet over medium-high heat for about 5 minutes.

  2. 4

    Cook the Patties

Place the patties on the grill or skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on one side, until browned, then flip and cook for another 3-4 minutes for medium doneness.

  3. 5

    Add Cheese

In the last minute of cooking, place a slice of cheddar cheese on each patty and cover to melt the cheese.

Assembling the Cheeseburger

  1. 6

    Prepare the Vegetables

While the patties are cooking, wash and slice the tomato and onion. Tear the lettuce leaves if necessary.

  2. 7

    Toast the Buns

Lightly toast the burger buns on the grill or in a toaster until golden brown.

  3. 8

    Assemble the Burger

On the bottom half of each toasted bun, place the lettuce leaves, followed by the cooked beef patty with melted cheese. Top with tomato slices and onion rings, then cap with the top half of the bun.
