Marinara Sauce
Method
Breadsticks Preparation
- 1
Activate the Yeast
In a small bowl, combine warm water (around 110°F) and sugar. Sprinkle the active dry yeast on top and let it sit for about 5-10 minutes until frothy.
- 2
Mix Dry Ingredients
In a large mixing bowl, combine all-purpose flour, salt, garlic powder, dried oregano, and dried basil. Mix well.
- 3
Combine Ingredients
Add the frothy yeast mixture and olive oil to the dry ingredients. Stir until a dough begins to form.
- 4
Knead the Dough
Transfer the dough to a floured surface and knead for about 5-7 minutes until smooth and elastic.
- 5
Let the Dough Rise
Place the dough in a lightly greased bowl, cover with a kitchen towel, and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- 6
Shape the Breadsticks
Once risen, punch down the dough and divide it into 10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long stick, about 6-8 inches long.
- 7
Prepare for Baking
Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Place the shaped breadsticks on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
- 8
Add Toppings
Brush the tops of the breadsticks with olive oil and sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese.
- 9
Bake
Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes, or until golden brown.
