Method
Prepare Calamari
Clean and Dry Calamari
Rinse the calamari rings under cold water and pat them dry with paper towels.
Make the Breading
In a bowl, mix the flour, cornstarch, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper.
Fry Calamari
Heat Oil
In a large pot, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
Coat Calamari
Dredge the calamari rings in the breading mixture, shaking off excess flour.
Fry Calamari
Fry the calamari in batches for about 2-3 minutes or until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

Make Dipping Sauces
Prepare Cocktail Sauce
In a bowl, mix together ketchup, horseradish, lemon juice, and Worcestershire sauce until well combined.
Prepare Citrus Aioli
In another bowl, whisk together mayonnaise, minced garlic, lemon zest, lime zest, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt until smooth.
Serve
Plate the Dish
Serve the fried calamari with sautéed banana peppers, cocktail sauce, and citrus aioli on the side.
