Method

Cornbread

  1. 1

    Preheat the Oven

Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and grease an 8-inch square baking dish.

  2. 2

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a large bowl, whisk together the multi-grain flour, baking powder, baking soda, salt, and sugar until well combined.

  3. 3

    Combine Wet Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, and melted butter until fully blended.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Pour the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients and stir gently until just combined. Do not overmix; small lumps are okay.

  5. 5

    Bake the Cornbread

Pour the batter into the prepared baking dish and bake for 20-25 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.

  6. 6

    Cool

Allow the cornbread to cool in the pan for about 10 minutes before cutting into squares.

Maple Butter

  1. 7

    Prepare Maple Butter

In a small bowl, beat the unsalted butter until creamy. Add the pure maple syrup and mix until well combined and fluffy.

  2. 8

    Serve

Transfer the maple butter to a small serving dish and set aside for serving with cornbread.

Bacon

  1. 9

    Cook the Bacon

In a skillet over medium heat, cook the bacon slices until crispy. This should take about 6-8 minutes, turning occasionally.

  2. 10

    Drain and Serve

Once cooked, transfer the bacon to a paper towel to drain excess grease. Serve alongside cornbread.
