Stuffed Grape Leaves Ingredients

Method

Preparation Steps

  1. 1

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, combine the rice, pine nuts, currants, dill, parsley, 2 tablespoons of olive oil, salt, and black pepper. Mix well and set aside.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Grape Leaves

If using jarred grape leaves, rinse them under cold water to remove excess brine. Lay them flat on a clean surface.

  3. 3

    Stuff the Grape Leaves

Take a grape leaf, place about 1 tablespoon of the filling at the base of the leaf, fold in the sides, and roll tightly from the base to the tip. Repeat until all filling is used.

  4. 4

    Arrange in Pot

In a large pot, place a few unused grape leaves at the bottom to prevent sticking. Layer the stuffed grape leaves seam side down in the pot.

  5. 5

    Cook the Dolmas

Drizzle the remaining 2 tablespoons of olive oil and lemon juice over the stuffed grape leaves. Pour in the water or vegetable broth until they are just covered. Place a plate on top to keep them submerged. Cover and simmer for about 45 minutes on low heat.

  6. 6

    Serve

Let the dolmas cool slightly before serving. They can be enjoyed warm or at room temperature. Serve with additional lemon wedges if desired.
