Ingredients for Midye Dolma

Method

Directions for Preparing Midye Dolma

  1. 1

    Prepare the Mussels

Rinse the mussels under cold water and scrub the shells. Discard any that are open or damaged.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a pan, heat olive oil over medium heat. Add finely chopped onion and sauté until translucent.

  3. 3

    Add Rice and Nuts

Stir in the rice, pine nuts, black currants, dill, and parsley. Season with salt and black pepper. Sauté for a few minutes.

  4. 4

    Cook the Rice

Pour in 2 cups of water, bring to a boil, then reduce heat and cover. Cook until the rice is tender and the water is absorbed, about 15 minutes.

  5. 5

    Stuff the Mussels

Once the rice mixture has cooled slightly, carefully open each mussel shell and stuff it with the filling. Close the shells tightly.

  6. 6

    Steam the Mussels

Place the stuffed mussels in a steamer basket over boiling water. Steam for 10-12 minutes until the mussels are fully cooked.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve hot with lemon wedges on the side.
