Manti Dough

Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Make the Dough

In a large mixing bowl, combine flour and salt. Create a well in the center and add the egg and water. Mix until a dough forms, then knead for about 10 minutes until smooth. Cover with a damp cloth and let rest for 30 minutes.

  2. 2

    Prepare the Filling

In a bowl, combine ground beef, onion, garlic, salt, black pepper, and red pepper flakes. Mix well until all ingredients are evenly incorporated.

  3. 3

    Roll Out the Dough

On a floured surface, roll out the dough thinly. Cut into squares (about 2x2 inches).

  4. 4

    Fill the Manti

Place a small amount of the beef filling in the center of each square. Fold the dough over to create a triangle and pinch the edges to seal. You can also pinch the two outer points together to form a traditional shape.

  5. 5

    Cook the Manti

Bring a large pot of salted water to a boil. Carefully drop the manti into the water and cook for about 8-10 minutes until they float to the top. Remove with a slotted spoon.

  6. 6

    Make the Yogurt Sauce

In a bowl, mix yogurt, minced garlic, salt, and dried mint until smooth.

  7. 7

    Serve

Place the cooked manti on a serving plate and drizzle with yogurt sauce. Optionally, you can also drizzle with melted butter or garnish with additional dried mint.
