Preparation Instructions

  1. 1

    Prep the Potatoes

Peel the russet potatoes and grate them using a box grater or a food processor. Place the grated potatoes in a bowl of cold water and soak for about 10 minutes to remove excess starch. Drain and pat them dry with paper towels.

  2. 2

    Prep the Onion

Finely chop the onion and set aside.

  3. 3

    Mix Ingredients

In a large bowl, combine the grated potatoes, chopped onion, salt, and black pepper. Mix well to ensure that the seasoning is evenly distributed.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a large skillet, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until shimmering.

  5. 5

    Cook the Hash Browns

Carefully add the potato mixture to the skillet in an even layer. Press down lightly with a spatula. Cook for about 5-7 minutes, or until the bottom is golden brown and crispy. Flip the hash browns in sections and cook the other side for another 5-7 minutes until golden brown.

  6. 6

    Serve

Once both sides are crispy, remove the hash browns from the skillet and drain on paper towels. Serve hot.
