Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Potatoes

Wash and peel the Russet potatoes. Cut them into thin strips, about 1/4 inch thick.

  2. 2

    Soak the Potatoes

Place the cut potatoes in a bowl of cold water and let them soak for at least 30 minutes. This helps to remove excess starch.

  3. 3

    Dry the Potatoes

Drain the potatoes and pat them dry with paper towels to remove as much moisture as possible.

  4. 4

    Heat the Oil

In a deep frying pan or pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).

  5. 5

    Fry the Potatoes

Carefully add a batch of the dried potato strips to the hot oil, making sure not to overcrowd the pan. Fry for about 5-7 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.

  6. 6

    Drain and Season

Remove the fries from the oil and place them on a paper towel-lined plate to drain excess oil. While they are still hot, sprinkle with salt and black pepper to taste.

  7. 7

    Serve

Serve the French fries hot with your choice of dipping sauce.
