Cooking Instructions

  1. 1

    Prepare the Steak

Pound the beef round steak to about 1/2 inch thickness. Season both sides with salt and black pepper.

  2. 2

    Dredge the Steak

In a shallow dish, combine flour, garlic powder, and onion powder. In another dish, whisk together buttermilk and egg. Dip each steak into the flour mixture, then the buttermilk mixture, and back into the flour, ensuring it's well coated.

  3. 3

    Fry the Steak

In a large skillet, heat vegetable oil over medium-high heat. Fry the coated steaks for about 3-4 minutes on each side or until golden brown. Remove and place on paper towels to drain excess oil.

  4. 4

    Make the Gravy

In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium and melt butter. Whisk in the remaining flour and cook for 1 minute. Slowly add milk while whisking constantly until the gravy thickens. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

  5. 5

    Scramble the Eggs

In a separate bowl, whisk the two eggs with a pinch of salt. In a non-stick pan, scramble the eggs over medium heat until cooked to your preference.

  6. 6

    Serve

Plate the chicken fried steak, top with white gravy, and serve alongside the scrambled eggs.
