Chicken and Waffles Ingredients
Method
Cooking Directions
- 1
Prepare the Chicken
In a large bowl, marinate the chicken wings in buttermilk for at least 1 hour, or overnight for best results.
- 2
Prepare the Coating
In a separate bowl, mix together the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, and cayenne pepper.
- 3
Fry the Chicken
Heat vegetable oil in a deep fryer or large pot to 350°F (175°C). Remove the chicken from the buttermilk, allowing excess to drip off, then coat in the flour mixture. Fry the wings in batches until golden brown and cooked through, about 10-12 minutes. Drain on paper towels.
- 4
Make the Waffles
In a mixing bowl, combine the Belgian waffle mix and water. Preheat a waffle iron, then pour the batter according to the manufacturer's instructions. Cook until golden brown and crisp.
- 5
Serve
Serve the crispy chicken wings on top of the waffles, drizzle with melted butter, and top with warm maple syrup.
