Method
Cooking Instructions
Cook the Pasta
In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil. Add the elbow macaroni and cook according to package instructions until al dente. Drain and set aside.
Make the Cheese Sauce
In a large skillet, melt the butter over medium heat. Add the flour and stir for 1-2 minutes to form a roux. Gradually whisk in the milk, ensuring no lumps form. Continue to cook, stirring frequently, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
Add Cheeses and Seasoning
Remove the skillet from heat and stir in the sharp cheddar, Gruyère, and Parmesan cheeses until melted. Add garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and black pepper, mixing well.
Combine Pasta and Sauce
Fold the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce, ensuring it’s well coated.
Prepare for Baking
Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C). Transfer the mac and cheese mixture back to the skillet. Top with panko breadcrumbs and a sprinkle of additional cheese if desired.
Bake
Place the skillet in the preheated oven and bake for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown and crispy.
Serve
Remove from the oven, garnish with fresh parsley, and serve hot.
