Chili Cheese Fries
Method
Chili Cheese Fries
- 1
Prepare the French Fries
Preheat your oven according to the package instructions for the frozen French fries. Spread the fries in a single layer on a baking sheet and bake until crispy, usually 20-25 minutes.
- 2
Cook the Ground Beef
While the fries are baking, heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add the ground beef and cook until browned, breaking it apart with a spatula, about 5-7 minutes. Drain excess fat.
- 3
Make the Chili Mixture
To the browned beef, add chili powder, canned kidney beans (drained and rinsed), canned diced tomatoes (with juice), salt, and black pepper. Stir to combine and let it simmer for 10-15 minutes until the mixture is heated through and slightly thickened.
- 4
Assemble the Chili Cheese Fries
Once the fries are done, remove them from the oven. Place the fries on a large serving platter. Spoon the chili mixture over the fries and sprinkle shredded cheddar cheese generously on top.
- 5
Melt the Cheese
Return the platter to the oven for an additional 5 minutes, or until the cheese has melted and is bubbly.
- 6
Garnish and Serve
Remove the platter from the oven. Top with dollops of sour cream and sprinkle chopped green onions over the top. Serve immediately.
