Onion Petals Ingredients
Method
Onion Petals Preparation
- 1
Prepare the Onions
Peel the onions and slice them into thin petals (rings). Separate the petals and set them aside.
- 2
Make the Batter
In a large bowl, combine the flour, cornstarch, baking powder, salt, black pepper, and cayenne pepper. Gradually add the cold water while whisking until you have a smooth batter.
- 3
Heat the Oil
In a deep skillet or frying pan, heat the oil over medium-high heat until it reaches 350°F (175°C).
- 4
Fry the Petals
Dip the onion petals into the batter, allowing excess to drip off. Carefully place them into the hot oil, frying in batches for about 3-4 minutes or until golden brown and crispy.
- 5
Drain and Serve
Remove the fried onion petals from the oil and place them on paper towels to drain excess oil. Serve hot with your favorite dipping sauce.
