Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Prepare the Chickpeas

If using dried chickpeas, soak them overnight in water and then boil until tender. If using canned chickpeas, drain and rinse them under cold water.

  2. 2

    Mince the Garlic

Peel and finely mince the garlic cloves to ensure they blend smoothly into the hummus.

  3. 3

    Juice the Lemon

Cut the lemon in half and squeeze out the juice, removing any seeds.

Blending

  1. 4

    Combine Ingredients

In a food processor, combine the chickpeas, tahini, minced garlic, lemon juice, olive oil, salt, and cumin.

  2. 5

    Blend Until Smooth

Pulse the mixture until it is well combined, then blend continuously until the hummus reaches a smooth and creamy consistency. If it's too thick, add a little water or olive oil as needed.

Serving

  1. 6

    Taste and Adjust

Taste the hummus and adjust the seasoning with additional salt, lemon juice, or tahini if desired.

  2. 7

    Garnish and Serve

Transfer the hummus to a serving bowl, drizzle with olive oil, and sprinkle with paprika and fresh parsley if using. Serve with pita bread, veggies, or crackers.
