Method

Prepare the seafood

  1. 1

    Cook the shrimp and scallops

In a large skillet over medium heat, add the olive oil. Once heated, add the shrimp and scallops. Sauté for about 3-4 minutes until they are opaque and cooked through. Remove from skillet and set aside.

  2. 2

    Cook the mussels and calamari

In the same skillet, add cleaned mussels and calamari. Cover the skillet and cook for about 5-7 minutes until the mussels open up and the calamari is tender. Remove from heat and set aside with the shrimp and scallops.

Prepare the pasta

  1. 3

    Cook the linguini

In a large pot of salted boiling water, add the linguini pasta. Cook according to package instructions until al dente, usually about 8-10 minutes. Drain and set aside.

Make the sauce

  1. 4

    Sauté garlic and spices

In the same skillet used for the seafood, add more olive oil if needed. Sauté minced garlic and crushed red pepper flakes for about 30 seconds until fragrant.

  2. 5

    Add tomatoes and wine

Pour in the canned crushed tomatoes and white wine. Stir to combine and bring to a simmer. Let it cook for about 10 minutes to thicken slightly.

  3. 6

    Season the sauce

Add salt and black pepper to taste, then stir in the chopped fresh basil.

Combine and serve

  1. 7

    Combine seafood and sauce

Add the cooked shrimp, scallops, mussels, and calamari back to the skillet with the sauce. Stir gently to coat the seafood in the sauce.

  2. 8

    Serve over linguini

To serve, place a portion of the cooked linguini on a plate and top with the seafood fra diavolo mixture. Garnish with additional fresh basil if desired.
