Method

Preparation

  1. 1

    Preheat Oven

Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C) and prepare four ramekins by greasing them with butter and dusting with flour.

  2. 2

    Melt Chocolate and Butter

In a medium saucepan over low heat, combine the unsalted butter and semisweet chocolate. Stir continuously until melted and smooth. Remove from heat and let cool slightly.

  3. 3

    Mix Dry Ingredients

In a separate bowl, whisk together the granulated sugar, all-purpose flour, and salt until well combined.

  4. 4

    Combine Mixtures

Add the sugar and flour mixture to the melted chocolate mixture. Stir until just combined.

  5. 5

    Add Eggs and Vanilla

Add the large eggs, large egg yolks, and vanilla extract to the mixture. Whisk until smooth and well incorporated.

Baking

  1. 6

    Fill Ramekins

Divide the batter evenly among the prepared ramekins, filling each about 3/4 full.

  2. 7

    Bake

Place the ramekins on a baking sheet and bake in the preheated oven for 12-14 minutes, or until the edges are firm but the center is soft.

  3. 8

    Cool Slightly

Remove the ramekins from the oven and let them cool for 1-2 minutes.

Serving

  1. 9

    Plate the Cakes

Carefully invert each ramekin onto a plate. Gently tap the bottom to release the cake.

  2. 10

    Garnish

Dust with powdered sugar and serve immediately with a scoop of vanilla ice cream on the side.
