Method

Crab Cake Preparation

  1. 1

    Mix the Crab Cake Ingredients

In a large mixing bowl, combine the lump crab meat, mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, Worcestershire sauce, Old Bay seasoning, breadcrumbs, egg, chopped parsley, salt, and black pepper. Gently fold the ingredients together until just combined. Be careful not to break up the crab meat too much.

  2. 2

    Form the Crab Cakes

Using your hands, form the mixture into patties, about 3 inches in diameter. You should get around 6-8 crab cakes depending on the size. Place the patties on a baking sheet lined with parchment paper.

  3. 3

    Chill the Crab Cakes

Cover the baking sheet with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes to allow the cakes to firm up.

Asparagus Preparation

  1. 4

    Prepare the Asparagus

While the crab cakes are chilling, preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C). Trim the tough ends off the asparagus and place them on a baking sheet.

  2. 5

    Season and Roast

Drizzle the asparagus with olive oil and season with salt and black pepper to taste. Toss to coat evenly, then spread them out in a single layer. Roast in the preheated oven for about 15-20 minutes, or until tender and slightly crispy.

Mango Chili Sauce Preparation

  1. 6

    Make the Sauce

In a small bowl, combine the diced mango, red chili flakes, lime juice, honey, and salt to taste. Mix well until the ingredients are thoroughly combined. Adjust seasoning as necessary.

Cooking the Crab Cakes

  1. 7

    Cook the Crab Cakes

In a large skillet, heat a tablespoon of olive oil over medium heat. Once hot, carefully place the crab cakes in the skillet. Cook for about 4-5 minutes on each side, or until golden brown and cooked through. You may need to do this in batches depending on the size of your skillet.

Plating

  1. 8

    Serve

On a plate, arrange a serving of roasted asparagus, top with a crab cake, and drizzle the mango chili sauce over the top. Enjoy your Maryland Lump Crab Cake with Asparagus and Mango Chili Sauce!
